Most people’s response to the visual arts is brief and fleeting. You see a painting, you feel something (maybe), and you move on. However, there is a deep emotional connection you can have with an artwork, and it usually does not come from your immediate emotional response to what you’re seeing. Rather, it comes once you start “reading” the artwork, grasping the theme, and personally connecting to it. Based on Luc’s book, Touching The Art, this class will introduce you to the idea of experiencing the visual arts with the same emotional intensity you would have when reading a great novel or watching a wonderful movie.
