This lecture will explore the criticisms put forward by Aristophanes and Aristotle against the Ancient Greek conception of communism, and show the contemporary relevance of these criticisms.

Suggested readings are Aristophanes' Assembly of Women, Plato's Republic (V 457b-564c), and Aristotle Politics (II 1-5, 7).
