Assault on the Ivory Tower: Objectivism Versus Academic Philosophy

Robert Garmong

Presented at: TOC 1993

Date: Oct 29, 1993

Philosophy is the driving force behind history. Philosophy is what gives men the guidance to shape their decisions, and thus it determines their reaction to events. And, since the universities are the central institutions for the spread of philosophy in the modern world, it is there that history is made. So if Objectivism is to become the dominant philosophy of our culture, it would seem that we must do so by means of influencing the universities. This workshop was a report on that process: How can it take place, has it been successful to date, and what are the prospects for the future? It presented Mr. Garmong’s view of the long-range strategy by which Objectivism will become the philosophy of America.
