Climate Change and Ideology
Date:
Jul 03, 2015
The climate policy debate has been raging for nearly three decades with no end in sight. Why is it so intractable? Part of the answer is that it's not just a debate over a narrow policy question; it is, at root, a debate over two competing ideologies: one that upholds reason, egoism, individualism and capitalism versus one that upholds authoritarianism, sacrifice, collectivism and statism. This talk explores the ideological character of the climate debate and its implications.
