Constitutionalism: The Backbone of Objective Law

Tara Smith

Presented at: OCON 2015

Date: Jul 03, 2015

Internationally, Constitutionalism seems triumphant, with more nations embracing constitutional government than ever before. At the same time, proper legal values often seem less secure. This talk explores the meaning and value of legal constitutionalism and its condition today. By identifying the major political forces and underlying intellectual beliefs that work against proper constitutional rule, the talk will explore why its protections are in serious decline--and the peril to all of us.

A version of this talk was also given at OOC 2014
