Do Animals Think?

Edwin A. Locke

Presented at: TJS 1989

Date: Aug 06, 1989

There has been a recurring debate in psychology and related fields about the cognitive capacities of the lower animals. Some have asserted, for example, that animals can understand sign language. Others have claimed that animals engage In human-like problem solving and communication. These claims will be shown to be without foundation. The scientific and epistemological errors which have led to these erroneous claims will be identified.
