Film Scores: The Last Stand of Romantic Music

Brian Johnson

Presented at: TOC 1995

Date: Oct 20, 1995

Although for the most part Romantic music has disappeared from today's culture, there is one field that does produce modern music with dramatic melodies and larger-than-life themes:  film scores.  This will be illustrated with pieces by John Williams (the Star Wars trilogy, E.T., Superman, Jaws, the Indiana Jones trilogy, etc.) and James Horner (Cocoon, Aliens, Field of Dreams, Glory, The Rocketeer, etc.)
