Filming "The Fountainhead": Ayn Rand’s First Plan
Date:
Jul 03, 2015
After Warner Brothers met Ayn Rand's asking price for the rights to The Fountainhead, she worked to adapt her novel for the screen. Her first script, which included a Stoddard Temple sequence, was more than twice as long as the shooting script. In the years that followed, she accepted changes only if they did not betray her story, ideas or hero. In her fight for Howard Roark, she never "went Hollywood," and she never sold out.
