Nuclear Physics in a Nutshell

A series of experiments from 1895 to 1939, profoundly transformed our understanding and control of nature. This talk highlights the key discoveries underlying nuclear physics, the scientists who made these discoveries, and the aspect of the discoveries that most transformed our understanding of nature. The talk concludes with a brief discussion of the wide-ranging applications of this new knowledge, from military weapons and energy generation to medical imaging and carbon-14 dating.
