These lectures will deal with religion as the historically most significant example of the destructiveness caused by philosophically false ideas. They will examine the modem world's major religions, in order to seek out what it Is they all share in common, to understand the root causes of religion, and to show how religious ideas are in fundamental opposition to the requirements of human life. Consideration will be given to_variations in destructive impact of the differing religions, with particularemphasis on the opposition of Christianity to the advance of scientific knowledge.
