Robots on Mars: Q&A with Michael Garrett

Elan Journo

Presented at: ARI Roundtable

Date: Apr 23, 2022

I hope you’ll join me for a behind-the-scenes look at some of the awesome scientific and engineering solutions that helped put robotic rovers on Mars. My guest on the next ARI Member Roundtable (is Michael Garrett, an inventor and engineer, who worked on some of these projects at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. His career path is beyond extraordinary, and we’ll talk about his experiences at JPL and the transformative impact of Ayn Rand’s ideas on his life.

Having talked with Michael a bit already, in preparation for the upcoming session, what keeps echoing in my thoughts is Ayn Rand’s profound observation about the triumphant Apollo 11 mission: “Nothing on earth or beyond it is closed to the power of man’s reason.”
