So You Want to Be an Inventor

Hans Schantz

Presented at: ATLOSCon 2016

Date: May 26, 2016

We will discuss the process of invention in this class, including common technical problem-solving techniques such as adaptation, substitution, combination, and simplification. We'll also discuss out-of-the box thinking to help you find novel components through serendipity, the principle of "form following function," and a knowledge of the history of your field. We will conclude with a top-level survey of the process and economics of technology development. If you've ever aspired to be an inventor, or if you've invented something and have experiences to share, please join us.
