These lectures will discuss free will, with particular emphasis on the relation between choice and causality. Topics include: the nature of the choice to focus one's mind, the validation of free will, its relation to the law of causality, and its biological role––the emergence of volition as a control mechanism in a brain that has acquired the capacity to think conceptually.
