Thomas Shoebotham

Presented at: OCON 2018

Date: Jun 29, 2018

Max Steiner is widely regarded as the father of film composition, and when he was asked to write the music for The Fountainhead, in 1947, he was at the height of his compositional powers. The score he provided, however, has elicited mixed reactions. Conductor Thomas Shoebotham presents clips from the film and some highlights of Steiner's score, and discusses the score’s merits and problems in relation to the other elements of the film.
