Duty as Anti-Morality

Aaron Smith

Presented at: OCON 2019

Date: Jun 22, 2019

This session — part lecture, part class discussion — examines the widespread and, according to Objectivism, destructive approach to thinking of morality in terms of fulfilling moral duties. We focus on questions such as: What is meant by a “duty”? Why does Objectivism regard the notion of duty as anti-morality? What does Objectivism regard as the proper way to think about the demands of morality?
