The ancient Greek philosophy of Stoicism is enjoying a resurgence of interest today. Recent books, both scholarly and popular, bring the tenets of Stoic philosophy to bear on issues faced by military personnel, Silicon Valley CEOs and the man on the street. What is it about Stoic philosophy that is so appealing? Did the Stoics hit on something of universal importance and enduring value? This talk examines the appeal of Stoic philosophy and addresses important similarities between Stoicism and Objectivism.
